ODESSA - The City of Odessa got together on Thursday to honor local business people.
Six local business people were honored including the 2015 Entrepreneur of the Year, Kirk Edwards, who is President and CEO of Latigo Petroleum.
Edwards and others were inducted into the hall of fame.
Other businesses represented were Pemco, Freedom Buick GMC and Permian Machinery Movers.
Small businesses are a huge part of the community and that's why this event is important.
“Small business is the back bone of any community and that's what this award recognized. About 65 percent of the growth of the community comes from small businesses so it's very important to recognize those who have that much faith in Odessa today and Odessa in the future,” said Larry Melton, CEO of Johnson Miller.
The Business Hall of Fame now has more than 120 members.
