David Salazar, a neighbor who lives just a few houses down the street, said, "There was several police cars, several ambulances, you don't usually see all that. So when I saw a whole bunch of them, I thought that something really bad happened. Apparently, the guy on the corner shot his wife."
Another neighbor, who wished to be anonymous, said, "It was very surprising, I thought it was just like a car accident or something like that, I never expected a shooting."
27-year-old Maleah Lloyd was found with a gunshot wound to the neck. Maleah's husband, 25-year-old Farley Garrett Lloyd, was locked inside of a bedroom inside the home. Police used lethal force to break into the room, where they tased Farley and arrested him.
Neighbors say this is the last thing they would expect to happen in their neighborhood.
"I feel unsettled. It's a real peaceful neighborhood, the kids are always outside playing and you know this is Big Spring, it's a small town. We're not supposed to have to worry about stuff like this," said Salazar.
Officials say the couple's small child was home during the shooting but was not hurt.
"It's kind of shocking that will stay with her (the child) forever, you never want to see something like that," the neighbor who wished to be anonymous, said.
Maleah Lloyd is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at University Medical Center Hospital in Lubbock. Her condition is still unknown.
"Hopefully she gets through it, she's in my prayers. I don't know why he would do something like that but hopefully he gets punished," said anonymous.
Officials say that Farley Garrett Lloyd has been arrested and is being held on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
