MIDLAND - We're hearing from relatives of a Midland family who lost their home overnight in a fire.

Around 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, Vicki Draper and her three grandchildren woke up to an explosion.

Fire crews were called out to the home in the 2100 block of North H Street.

They say when they got there, the house was fully engulfed in flames.

The family was able to get out safely and luckily all five of their dogs are okay too.

However, the home is a complete loss.

A cousin of the family tells NewsWest 9, they're still trying to cope with that.

"They're a little bit shaken up. They're having to lose what they've had for 12-13 years now. Just all disappeared in front of their face right now," Chris Cato said.
