ODESSA – One man has been indicted on capital murder charges following a February stabbing in Odessa.
21-year-old Ryan Carter was indicted on Monday.
As you may recall, Odessa Police were called out to the Kent Kwik at 6th Street & West County Road last month.
Dispatch advised officers on the way to the scene that a female was being assaulted by two males. The woman also reported to dispatch that her husband had been stabbed.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found 51-year-old Maikil Maduok dead.
During the investigation, officers spoke with the female who called in the report and stated that she and Maduok were taking their vehicle to drop off at the Glass Doctor, located in the 700 block of North County Road West.
According to the report, when they arrived at the location, they parked on the south side of the building and Maduok walked around the front of the building to look for a different place to park.
That's when the woman heard Maduok speaking with someone around the corner and she heard an unknown male demanding money or the vehicle from Maduok.
The woman stated that's when a fight began between the two men and she saw the two men fighting over a handgun. The woman took the handgun from them and took it back to her vehicle.
When she came back, she saw Maduok had been stabbed.
We're told the unknown man began to flee on foot but with the help of witnesses on the scene, officers were able to capture Carter.
Carter admitted to police that he stabbed Maduok.
