JEFF DAVIS COUNTY - A grassfire in Jeff Davis County is 60 percent contained and officials say there is currently no danger to anyone.
According to Marfa Public Radio, the fire sparked up on Sunday afternoon in the Puertacitas Mountains between State Highway 17 and Highway 118.
Jim Fowler with the Fort Davis Volunteer Fire Department told Marfa Public Radio, “there is no danger to residents at this time.”
At last report, the fire has burned at least 600 acres.
Fire officials were called back to the scene around 10 a.m. Monday morning to continue working to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
