Man Arrested in Gaines County After Police Locate Stolen Vehicle

GAINES COUNTY – One man has been arrested after authorities located a stolen vehicle in Gaines County.

According to a press release from the Gaines County Sheriff's Office, the Seminole Police Department, as well as the Gaines County Sheriff's Office received a report on Monday about a stolen silver 2015 Chevrolet pickup that had been stolen from Midland.

In the report, officials learned that the subjects inside of the pickup were persons of interest in a string of vehicle burglaries in Midland.

According to the report, at around 9:10 a.m. Monday, officials located the stolen pickup in the 1600 block of South Main Street and a traffic stop was conducted.

During the traffic stop, officials seized the stolen vehicle, along with multiple items stolen from the string of burglaries in Midland.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, 18-year-old Xavier Whiteside, was arrested on an unrelated charge, no driver's license and was booked into the Gaines County Jail.

A passenger in the truck wasn't charged and was later released.
