MIDLAND - The West Texas Food Bank will soon have a building in Midland.

A demolition breaking event was held on Wednesday for the West Texas Food Bank's new location in Midland.

The building will be located at 1601 Westcliff Drive.

They plan on renovating and expanding the building to become the West Texas Food Bank Community Volunteer Center.

Major donors from Concho Resources, Abell-Hanger Foundation, the Scharbauer Foundation and Mabee Foundations were at the event.

Midland Mayor Jerry Morales was at the event talking about the great work the organization does for the area.

"We do have an issue with poverty. We have an issue with hunger. We have an issue with homelessness so when you have an organization, like the West Texas Food Bank, making a tremendous impact with five million pounds of food a year that they're feeding people," said Morales.

Although the food bank has been serving Midland since the organization was founded in 1985, there has not been a building in the City of Midland.
