REEVES COUNTY – Three Carlsbad men were killed in a morning accident in Reeves County.

The accident happened on Highway 285, about 15 miles north of Pecos on Wednesday morning.

DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, a 2005 Ford F-250 was traveling southbound on Highway 285 when for an unknown reason, the driver drove on the wrong side of the road not passing into the path of oncoming traffic.

However, the driver of a 2012 Terex Crane, told authorities he got as far right as possible to avoid crashing with the truck.

That's when the F-250 continued straight toward the crane and crashed head-on, causing the truck to become lodged underneath the crane.

Three men in the F-250, 24-year-old Patrick Silva, 24-year-old Peter Silva and 41-year-old Jamie William Warrior, all of Carlsbad, New Mexico, were killed in the accident.

The driver of the crane, 27-year-old Pesia Ray of Monahans, Texas, was airlifted to Carlsbad with non-incapacitating injuries.

There's no word if any citations will be issued in connection with the crash as the accident is still under investigation.
