SCAMMON, KANSAS - We're continuing to follow the discovery of a Midland woman's body found hundreds of miles away in Kansas.
An autopsy was performed to find out what caused her death and it is disturbing.
The autopsy was done in Kansas City on Tuesday morning.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, 35-year-old Shannon Fonda died from shock and complications due to burns on her body.
The sheriff's office says she was in the Cherokee County area for at least 36 hours and they're not sure what she was doing there.
Just after 8 a.m. Monday morning, deputies found Fonda's body and a car in a field just north of Scammon, Kansas, after receiving a call.
There's no word if she was inside of the car.
However, the Sheriff's Office says investigators are looking into this case as a homicide.
