PRESIDIO – Border Patrol agents from the Big Bend Sector's Presidio Station made a big drug bust.
Back on March 10, agents discovered 442 pounds of marijuana in an abandoned truck in downtown Presidio.
Officials say the truck matched the description of a vehicle agents had seen cross into the U.S. illegally.
When agents discovered the truck in Presidio, they employed a Border Patrol K9 to conduct a non-intrusive search of the vehicle. After the dog alerted, the truck was moved to the Presidio Port of Entry, where officers of the CBP Office of Field Operations used a VACIS scanner to look into the vehicle. The officers were able to see the hidden marijuana in the truck's auxiliary fuel tank.
Agents then took the vehicle to the Presidio Border Patrol Station where they opened the tank and found 418 packages of marijuana.
The drugs have a street value of $453,720.
