Robbery at Odessa Wal-Mart Under Investigation

ODESSA – One man is behind bars following an incident in Odessa on Tuesday morning.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, officers were called out to the Wal-Mart on North JBS Parkway in reference to an assault.

When officers arrived on the scene, they made contact with Odessa Fire Rescue, who advised they saw a subject being chased out of the Wal-Mart by employees.

According to the report, several firefighters chased the subject through the Wal-Mart Parking lot. When they caught up with the suspect, he turned around and threatened to shoot them. Firefighters then backed off away from the suspect.

Several witnesses later gave police a description of the suspect, who was picked up by an unknown person, driving a Ford Fusion.

Officers then spoke with the victim who told police she was shopping in the laundry detergent aisle when she felt someone pull really hard on her brown Rossetti purse. The victim told police that the suspect pulled so hard that it caused her to lose her balance.

The suspect then demanded that the victim let go of her purse, however, the victim refused and began to yell for help.

That's when the suspect began running toward the south entrance and employees began chasing the suspect.

Authorities then put out an attempt to locate on the suspect's vehicle. It was spotted a few hours later in the 3100 block of North Muskingum. 21-year-old Jesse Galindo was later detained and interviewed by detectives.

We're told Galindo was found to be in possession of an iPhone 6 which had been previously reported stolen in the 2700 block of Adams.

Galindo has been charged with theft by possession.

No arrests have been made yet in connection with the robbery at Wal-Mart as the investigation is still underway.
