TRAVIS COUNTY - A second person from Midland has died following a weekend police chase in Travis County.

NewsWest 9 has learned that 27-year-old Juan Cortez of Midland, who was badly injured in the crash, died from his injuries.

As you may recall, it all started when the Travis County Sheriff's Office started chasing a man that ran a red light.

The driver didn't stop when police tried to pull him over and deputies said the driver began to weave between lanes.

That's when the driver drove into traffic near Murfin Road and crashed head-on with another vehicle that Cortez was a passenger in.

The driver of that vehicle, 26-year-old Cristina Rincon Mendoza was killed in the accident.

The driver of the vehicle that authorities were chasing, 27-year-old Nicholas Stearns, was also killed in the crash.
