Woman Bites Officer During Arrest in Odessa

ODESSA – One woman is facing several charges following an incident on Sunday afternoon.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to Motel One on Highway 80 in reference to a subject refusing to leave.

When officers arrived, Motel One personnel advised that 25-year-old Monique Olivas refused to leave the scene.

While officers were trying to issue a criminal trespass warning to Olivas, she pushed Officer Cory Wester and immediately attempted to flee.

Wester was able to quickly catch Olivas before she fled the scene.

While Olivas was being detained, Olivas used her mouth to bite Wester on his upper right bicep.

An investigation revealed Olivas had been taking Xanax, norco and methamphetamine.

Olivas has been charged with assault on a public servant and public intoxication on a substance other than alcohol.

Wester was taken to Medical Center Hospital to be treated and was later released.
