BIG SPRING – One man is behind bars after attempting to run from police over the weekend.
Big Spring Police tell NewsWest 9 that they saw a vehicle traveling the wrong way in the 200 block of West Fourth.
That's when the vehicle turned southbound into the 400 block of South Gregg Street almost causing an accident with oncoming traffic.
Following a traffic stop, an investigation revealed that 40-year-old Juan Moran was intoxicated.
Moran was arrested and refused to a breathalyzer test and was taken to the hospital for a blood draw after getting a warrant affidavit.
After Moran's blood was drawn and he was taken back to a patrol unit, Moran broke free, while handcuffed, from the officer and began running away.
Officers were able to catch Moran quickly and took him back into custody.
Moran has been arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction and escape from custody.
