COPPELL, Texas (AP) - The average price of retail gasoline across Texas remains at $2.25 for the second week.
AAA Texas on Thursday reported that the statewide average is $1.01 less than last year. Texas' average this week is also 19 cents less than the national average of $2.44.
The association reports that drivers in Dallas and Texarkana are paying the most, an average of $2.27 per gallon. Drivers in Beaumont are paying the least, at $2.21 per gallon.
AAA says gas prices are typically higher this time of year as suppliers undergo maintenance and plan to reduce winter-grade fuel in preparation for the changeover to summer-grade gasoline, which is more costly to produce.
