SANDERSON – Four Mexican Nationals were arrested after they attempted to smuggle over 100 pounds of marijuana into the United States.
According to a press release, Border Patrol Agents from the Big Bend Sector's Sanderson Station and an Air Interdiction Team from the Office of Air and Marine (OAM) Alpine Air Branch were involved in the arrest.
We're told the arrests were made on Tuesday when agents patrolling southeast of Sanderson found foot tracks in a dry creek.
The agents followed the tracks for hours and with the help of the OAM helicopter, they found the four men hiding in the brush with four backpacks loaded with marijuana.
All total, agents seized 173 pounds of marijuana.
All four men, who were in the country illegally, were arrested and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
