A proposed bill could help expectant parents of Down Syndrome children.
State Representative Brooks Landgraf filed House Bill 2924, the Down Syndrome Parental Information Act.
The bill would provide information to expectant parents regarding the disorder.
That information includes physical, developmental and educational outcomes, along with treatment options.
Under the new legislation, medical providers would be required to give information that has been reviewed by experts from Down Syndrome Organizations to parents who are expecting a child with the disorder.
If the bill is passed, the new information would be made available to parents starting January first.
