One Killed, Two Injured in Midland County Accident

MIDLAND COUNTY – One man is dead and two others were injured in a weekend accident.

The accident happened on FM 1787 about 26 miles south of Midland just before 7 a.m. on Saturday morning.

DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche was traveling east on FM 1787 when a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado attempted to turn left in front of the Avalanche onto a work site. That's when the Avalanche hit the Silverado.

A passenger in the Silverado, 23-year-old Matias Montemayor of McAllen, Texas, was killed in the accident.

The driver of the Silverado, 19-year-old Jesus Gomez of Roma, Texas, was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the Avalanche, 35-year-old Mario Flores of Fort Worth, Texas, was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock.
