ODESSA – One man is facing several charges following an incident in Odessa on Tuesday night.
Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the Jackson Square Apartments in reference to a man who had been shot.
When officers arrived on the scene, they made contact with a man who identified himself as 39-year-old William Vasquez.
When officers checked that name, there was no information for that name. Upon further investigation, officers identified him as 38-year-old Jossue Vazquez.
Dispatch reported to the officers on scene that Vazquez had two local warrants for his arrest.
Vazquez was also found to be in possession of several drugs including a bag of methamphetamine, a bag of marijuana and a syringe containing approximately 10 CC's of methamphetamine.
Officers searched Vazquez' jacket where they found another syringe, along with a necklace valued at $800.
Further investigation revealed that the necklace had been previously stolen. Vazquez admitted to taking the necklace without permission and it was returned to its owner.
Investigation also revealed that there was no gunshot victim and that Vazquez had called in a fake report.
Vazquez is facing charges of possession of methamphetamine, theft of property, false identification-fugitive from justice, possession of marijuana, public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia.
