Man Arrested Following Brief Standoff in Odessa

ODESSA – One man was arrested on several charges following a brief weekend standoff in Odessa.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the 4900 block of North Dixie in reference to suicide threats on Saturday.

The subject, identified himself as 33-year-old Jason Hickman, who was wanted for several felonies including aggravated robbery.

The Odessa Police Department SWAT team was called out to the scene after Hickman stated that he wanted the cops to shoot him and that he was ready to die.

Negotiators were also called to the scene and after a brief standoff, Hickman walked outside with his hands up and was taken into custody without incident.

Hickman was transported to the police department where he was interviewed by detectives.

Hickman is facing charges of aggravated robbery, evading in a motor vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and for two misdemeanor warrants.
