Odessa Police Department Press Release
41-year-old Rene Flores Ramos
Odessa Police arrested Ramos on 3-1-15 at approximately 2030 hours for Manufacture of Delivery of Heroin “State Jail Felony” and Criminal Trespass “Class B Misdemeanor”. Officers responded to the Odessa Motor Inn (2021 East 2nd Street) in reference to a subject refusing to leave.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with Odessa Motor Inn personnel, who advised a male subject was refusing to pay for a room and would not leave. Odessa Motor Inn personnel further advised they wanted to file charges on the subject for trespassing. The subject refusing to leave was identified as Ramos.
While inside the suspect's motel room, officers observed in plain view two papers containing black tar heroin, a roll of aluminum foil, and numerous cut pieces of a plastic baggy. Officers also located $5,376 in U.S. Currency, which was seized into evidence. There were several notes inside the motel room with messages indicative of narcotic activity.
Ramos stated, “I'm going to call my people in Juarez” and have him picked up, referring to the Odessa Motor Inn employee that called and reported him. Ramos also stated “I'm Barrio Azteca”, referring to a prison gang with ties to the sales of heroin. Ramos was charged and arrested accordingly.
27-year-old Jessica Leish Hendrix
Odessa Police arrested Hendrix on 2-28-15 at approximately 1135 hours for Possession of Methamphetamine, a 3rd Degree Felony. The Odessa Police Department executed a search warrant in the 4900 block of North Dixie, in reference to a suspect in a series of aggravated robberies. The suspect advised there was methamphetamine inside the residence.
While searching the residence, officers discovered three bags of methamphetamine. Officers also discovered several items used for smoking methamphetamine. Hendrix advised officers that she had been using methamphetamine. Hendrix was charged and arrested accordingly. Approximately 2.4 grams of meth was seized as evidence.
22-year-old Pete Gonzales
Odessa Police arrested Gonzales on 3-1-15 at approximately 2220 hours for Possession of Cocaine “2nd Degree Felony”, Driving While License Invalid with Prior Convictions “Class B Misdemeanor”, No Proof of Insurance with Prior Convictions “Class B Misdemeanor”, and for two misdemeanor warrants.
Officers observed a gray Chevrolet Tahoe traveling in the 3200 block of Dawn with a defective headlamp. A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the driver was identified as Gonzales. Investigation revealed that his license was suspended with prior convictions. Gonzales also failed to provide proof of insurance.
Gonzales was placed into custody for DWLI with prior convictions, no proof of insurance with prior convictions, and for two local warrants. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered approximately four grams of cocaine. Gonzales was charged and arrested accordingly.
35-year-old Albert Cruz-Acevedo
Odessa Police arrested Cruz-Acevedo on 3-1-15 at approximately 0440 hours for Burglary of a Habitation “2nd Degree Felony” and Possession of Marijuana “Class B Misdemeanor”. Officers responded to 1431 South Texas (Chaparal Village Apartments) in reference to a burglary in progress.
Dispatch advised a subject had kicked the door in to a residence. Upon arrival, officers observed the door of the residence to be halfway open. Officers observed a male subject upstairs near the stairway. Officers gave commands for the suspect to come down the stairs with their hands up.
The suspect, later identified as Cruz-Acevedo, was taken into custody without incident. The owner of the residence arrived on scene and advised that Cruz-Acevedo did not have permission to be inside her residence and break the door. Officers also discovered marijuana while searching his pockets.
21-year-old Brittney Marie Schaefer and 30-year-old Jessica Louise Morris
Odessa Police arrested Schafer on 2-27-15 at approximately 2126 hours for Possession of Methamphetamine “State Jail Felony”, Possession of Cocaine “State Jail Felony”, Possession of a Controlled Substance “Class A Misdemeanor”, and for four outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
Odessa Police also arrested Morris for Possession of Methamphetamine “State Jail Felony”, Possession of a Controlled Substance “Class A Misdemeanor”, and for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. Officers responded to the 3100 block of North Century in reference to a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers observed a 2012 BMW 535i leaving the residence where the disturbance had occurred. A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle in the 3200 block of Boulder and the driver was identified as Morris and the front passenger as Schafer.
Officers could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the listed vehicle. A warrant check revealed both Morris and Schafer had outstanding warrants out for their arrest. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered multiple Alprazolam pills in a wallet belonging to Morris. Officers also found Morris to be in possession of a bag of methamphetamine.
Officers then searched Schafer's purse and discovered more Alprazolam along with cocaine and methamphetamine. Both Schafer and Morris could not provide a prescription for the alprazolam. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, both subjects were charged and arrested accordingly.
