GREENWOOD - The community of Greenwood came together on Saturday to help raise money for one of their own.
Dan Horton was first diagnosed with a brain tumor back in 2008, but until recently, he had been in remission for six years.
But in July, doctors found another aggressive tumor and they tried various treatments but had no success.
Now, Dan is in a hospice fighting for his life.
The entire community of Greenwood is stepping up to help him and his family.
On Saturday, they held a brisket supper to help raise funds for medical bills.
“Since last night, we cooked 60 briskets. We had a whole host of volunteers the community has really turned out for a great man by the name of Dan Horton. He's been a part of this community for a while and unfortunately he's dying of cancer,” Jeremy Olive, friend of Dan Horton, said.
