One Killed, Four Injured in Glasscock County Accident

GLASSCOCK COUNTY – One person is dead and four people were injured following an evening accident in Glasscock County on Friday.

The accident happened on State Highway 137, about 18 miles northwest of Garden City around 8:15 p.m.

DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, a 2013 Ford Eco was traveling northbound on State Highway 137 and was trying to pass on the left. We're told the vehicle passed while unsafe causing the vehicle to go into a side skid into a bar ditch and overturned.

A passenger in the vehicle, 27-year-old Manuel Perez of Pearsall, Texas, was killed in the accident.

The driver of the vehicle, 35-year-old Juan Humberto Salas, and passengers, 27-year-old Santiago Lopez-Rosales, 25-year-old Ivan Castillo and 21-year-old Rolando Villarreal-Garcia, all of Pearsall, Texas, were taken to Midland Memorial Hospital where they were treated and released.

Officials say Perez wasn't wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
