MIDLAND - Officers received some help on Thursday to honor Sergeant Mike Naylor at the nation's capital.

All-American Chevrolet gave the Midland Police Department Honor Guard with a $1,000 check.

The money will help fund a trip to the nation's capital in May for national police week.

The Honor Guard Unit will represent Midland and honor Midland County Deputy, Sergeant Mike Naylor.

His legacy will be remembered as his name is added to the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial.

That monument is never ending because there's a police officer that gets killed in the line of duty every 53 hours.

"There's an actual national memorial for fallen police officers up in Washington, D.C. and that memorial is the only memorial in Washington, D.C. that will never be completed because there's names that get added to the list every year," Officer Chane Brandford with the Midland Police Department, said.

The police department is still taking donations for the trip.

If you would like to help out, just head to the department on North Loraine Street.
