HOBBS, N.M. - Hobbs Police say they caught a drunk man sleeping in his running car.

According to the report, officers found 22-year-old Jacob Puente in a parking lot of a convenience store.

He was asleep and the engine was still running.

Officers woke Puente up and say they could smell alcohol, his eyes were blood shot red and glassy and he was slurring his words.

Police say they found an open bottle of booze in Puente's car and Puente refused to take a sobriety test.

He was taken to jail and the report says an officer dropped Puente's necklace during booking.

The officer reached down to pick it up and that's when Puente tried to kick him.
