PRESIDIO – U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations officers made a large drug bust at the Presidio port of entry on Monday.
According to a report, CBP officials made the seizure around 7 a.m. Monday morning when a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado entered the port from Mexico.
The preliminary officer referred the vehicle for an x-ray examination where anomalies were found in all four tires.
Upon looking at the tires, they found that all four wheels of the car had specially made metal collars attached to the rims and the collars were filled with marijuana.
CBP officers arrested 53-year-old Jose Antonio Tarango from Odessa and he was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement HSI special agents to face federal charges in connection with the failed smuggling attempt.
