ODESSA – One man is behind bars on two counts of burglary of a building following an incident in Odessa.
Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the 1800 block of Beckwood in reference to a burglary in progress.
As officers were responding, dispatch advised a male wearing a cap, black shirt and blue jeans was breaking into a storage shed.
Officers later searched 54-year-old Oscar Garcia and found a cut padlock in his pants pocket.
According to the report, a homeowner told police that she saw Garcia walking out of her storage shed and that's when officers discovered that the next-door neighbor's residence had also been burglarized.
An investigation revealed that Garcia had stolen a stove and router from one home and officers found an oven sitting in the back of Garcia's truck. After searching Garcia's truck, they also found a router along with bolt cutters.
Officials say they also found several tools and a toolbox which belonged to the owner of the storage shed.
All stolen items were returned to the owners.
Garcia is facing two counts of burglary of a building and for four outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
