ODESSA – One woman is facing charges after assaulting an Odessa Police officer.
Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the Whataburger on East 8th Street in reference to a disturbance.
When officers arrived on the scene, they made contact with 31-year-old Beatrice Kelly.
Officers took Kelly into custody for public intoxication and took her to a marked patrol unit.
According to the report, while Kelly was sitting inside the back of the patrol unit, she removed her seatbelt and began kicking around.
When officers attempted to reinsert the seat belt back into place, Kelly assaulted one of the officers by striking the officer's left hand and forearm with her feet.
Kelly is facing charges of assault on a public servant, possession of marijuana, public intoxication and for two outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
