Man Arrested in Odessa on Aggravated Robbery Charges

ODESSA – One man is behind bars following a weekend incident in Odessa.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the 4800 block of Golder in reference to shots being fired.

When officers arrived on the scene, they made contact with a 26-year-old female who stated that her husband had assaulted her. Her husband was later identified as 28-year-old James Dillion Eastep.

An investigation revealed that after Eastep got into an argument with his wife, he bit her on her right arm causing bodily injury.

A witness told police that she heard screaming and came outside of her trailer and observed Eastep assaulting his wife. The witness also told police that she pointed a handgun at Eastep and told him stop.

That's when Eastep grabbed her gun and the witness with a closed fist on the left side of her jaw.

As Eastep and the witness were fighting for the gun, one round went off.

According to the report, Eastep then pointed the gun at the witness and stated that he was going to kill her but Eastep ran inside a trailer before being caught by officers.

Eastep has been charged with aggravated robbery, assault causing bodily injury and for six outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
