ODESSA – An Odessa man is dead and another person was injured in a single vehicle accident on Sunday afternoon.

The accident happened around 4 p.m. in the 10300 block of Highway 191 near the Mid-Cities Church.

An investigation into the accident revealed that a GMC Sierra pickup was traveling east in the outside lane and moved into the inside lane to pass another vehicle.

However, as the vehicle was moving back to the outside lane, the pickup began to fishtail and the driver was unable to regain control causing the vehicle to roll several times.

A passenger in the vehicle, 20-year-old Joshua McFarlin, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, 17-year-old Bailey Long, was injured in the accident and taken to Midland Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

We're told that McFarlin wasn't wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was ejected from the vehicle.

Officials say weather conditions and speed are being considered as possible contributing factors in the accident.

The investigation into the accident continues.
