ODESSA – One man is facing several charges following an incident on Sunday night.
Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to H.E.B. on 42nd Street in reference to a theft.
When officers arrived on the scene, H.E.B. employees told police that three people attempted to steal several items valued at over $500 from the store in two shopping baskets.
H.E.B. employees told police that two of the subjects fled the scene but they were able to detain 51-year-old Robert Barnard.
According to the report, Barnard also tried to cash a bad check, which belonged to someone else, for over $500.
Officers say they also found Barnard to be in possession of a fake identification card containing the name of the person on the bad check.
H.E.B. was able to recover one of the baskets valued just under $322.
