ODESSA - It's an exciting time for the United Way of Odessa.
The non-profit organization reached their goal of raising $2.4 million.
The money will be used to helping out other non-profits in the basin including the American Red Cross and the Boys and Girls Club.
United Way officials say it was all made possible by generous West Texans who donated $5 to $10 a month to the organization.
"A lot of that has to do with the fact that we had a real good economy lately. But, more than that, it has to do with the generosity of the people of Odessa. They just care enough to make sure that they support their own," Tom Pursel, Executive Director of the United Way of Odessa, said.
In 2013, United Way helped out 35 different programs with the money they raised.
