MIDLAND, Texas (AP) - A big commercial jet has been doing training runs over remote West Texas and observers are being told there's no emergency.

Officials with Midland International Air & Space Port say an American Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be doing practice runs for a few weeks.

Random flights began Saturday for pilot training. The airport says it's not an emergency diversion or situation with the jet, capable of hauling more than 225 passengers.

Fort Worth-based American received its first Boeing 787 last month, with plans to add more planes throughout the year.

American on May 7 begins Dreamliner service between Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Chicago O'Hare International Airport.
