ODESSA - You always hope that people use their super powers for good; after all, with great powers come great responsibility. Then there are some people who just use them to be the villain. At least, that's what this man did when he soared over the counter at Family Dollar to cause a ruckus.
"It shocked me when I first saw it how fast the whole thing took place. I mean he doesn't just stroll in like the typical, you know, robber that we usually see when they walk up to the counter," Susan Rogers with Odessa Crime Stoppers said.
In the surveillance video, you can see the man casually walk in wearing a grey sweatshirt with the number 23 on it, and a red bandanna covering his face--not suspicious at all. Then he leaps over the counter like he's training for the Olympics, sending the employees into a frenzy.
"He's got a gun in his hand, and there are two employees there and they are trying to comply with what he's telling them to do. You can see in the picture that it was a little bit of a chaotic scene," Rogers said.
The suspect starts yelling orders to the woman, she of course listens because, you know, it's a bad guy with a gun. No explanation necessary. Meanwhile, her coworker is being forced to lay down on the ground. You can see the robber gathering everything he can in his arms and snatches a plastic bag from the employee--crooks these days just have no manners. Then he hops back over the counter and around the corner he goes, off with a ton of cash in less than two minutes.
"This guy was on a mission and he got it completed," Rogers said. "So we need to complete his mission and put him in jail."
