Man Arrested For DWI in Odessa

ODESSA – One man is behind bars on DWI charges following an accident in Odessa.

Odessa Police were called out to Billy Hext and Eastridge in reference to a major accident on Tuesday night just before 7 p.m.

An investigation revealed that a white Chevrolet Silverado hit two vehicles then fled the scene.

A person in one of the two vehicles was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to the report, a witness followed the white Silverado to the east alley of the 5600 block of Wyoming,

When officers arrived in the alley, they saw the suspect getting out of the driver's side door.

The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Jimmy Joe Salinas, was taken into custody for DWI after failing field sobriety tests.

Further investigation revealed that Salinas has multiple prior convictions for driving while intoxicated.

Salinas is facing charges of Driving While Intoxicated, 3rd or More. Salinas was also cited for leaving the scene of an accident, no proof of insurance and failure to display driver's license.
