Recent felony arrests by the Odessa Police Department for February 9, 2015.
33-year-old Jason Uriah Leyva and 36-year-old Efrain Nino

Odessa Police arrested Leyva on 2-6-15 at approximately 2115 hours for Possession of Cocaine, a State Jail Felony. Odessa Police also arrested Nino for Possession of Cocaine "State Jail Felony" and for a misdemeanor warrant. Officers observed a white Dodge truck run a red light at Dixie and Clements.

A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the driver was identified as Leyva and the front passenger as Efrain. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered a crack rock on the driver's seat and another crack rock on the driver's floor board. Further search revealed another crack rock near the passenger seat along with a bag containing more cocaine. Both subjects were charged and arrested accordingly.

41-year-old Ernest Taggart

Odessa Police arrested Taggart on 2-6-15 at approximately 0614 hours for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More, a 3rd Degree Felony. Officers responded to East Loop 338 and Eastridge in reference to a major crash. Investigation revealed that an 18-wheeler was stopped at the light (facing northbound) in the 3400 block of East Loop 338.

A gray Toyota Scion, being operated by Taggart, struck the 18-wheeler from behind. While making contact with Taggart, officers could smell an odor of alcohol coming from his breath and person. Taggart was placed into custody for driving while intoxicated after failing field sobriety tests.

Dispatch advised Taggart had several prior convictions for driving while intoxicated. Taggart was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. Taggart was also cited for Failure to Control Speed – Accident with Vehicle, Failure to Display Driver's License, and No Proof of Insurance.

45-year-old Armando Gabaldon & 19-year-old Ashlea Kinman

Odessa Police arrested Gabaldon on 2-6-15 at approximately 2123 hours for Possession of Cocaine, a State Jail Felony. Officers responded to the Sahara Motel (1423 East 2nd Street) in reference to a wanted subject. Upon arrival, officers made contact with two subjects inside a motel room, identified as Gabaldon and Kinman.

Officers searched the motel room and discovered cocaine in the carpet and more cocaine on a night stand. Both subjects were found to be in possession of cocaine. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, both subjects were charged and arrested accordingly.

24-year-old Roy Flores, Jr.

Odessa Police arrested Flores on 2-7-15 at approximately 0043 hours for Possession of Cocaine, a State Jail Felony. Officers observed a black 2005 Lincoln traveling westbound in the 200 block of West 11th Street displaying an expired registration sticker. A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the driver was identified as Flores.

Investigation revealed that the listed vehicle was displaying a fictitious registration sticker that came back registered to another vehicle. The registration sticker was confiscated. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered marijuana and a bag of cocaine. Flores admitted that the cocaine was his.

The total weight of the cocaine was approximately 2.14 grams, which was turned into evidence. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Flores was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

23-year-old Adrian Gallegos

Odessa Police arrested Gallegos on 2-8-15 at approximately 0537 hours for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon "3rd Degree Felony", Possession of Cocaine "State Jail Felony", and Possession of Marijuana "Class B Misdemeanor". Officers observed a white 2010 Ford F-150 traveling northbound in the 1900 block of Golder with the high beams on.

The driver of the listed vehicle continued to flash the high and low beam lights at the marked OPD patrol unit until they passed each other. A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle in the 1700 block of North Washington and the driver was identified as Gallegos.

While approaching the driver's side of the vehicle, officers could smell marijuana coming out of it. Officers observed several crack rocks in plain view on the seats, side steps, and on the top of the center console. A bag of marijuana was also located near the driver's door. Officers also located a handgun concealed in the moon roof.

Investigation revealed Gallegos was a convicted felon with the last conviction back in 2011. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Gallegos was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC. Gallegos was also cited for fail to dim headlights.

36-year-old Carlos Roman

Odessa Police arrested Roman on 2-7-15 at approximately 2231 hours for Possession of Cocaine, a State Jail Felony. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a white Ford Escort in the 700 block of East Monahans and the driver was identified as Roman. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered cocaine on the floor board near the driver's seat.
