ODESSA – Odessa Police need your help locating a suspect involved in a shooting at an Odessa Whataburger.

Police are looking for 22-year-old Jeffery Wayne Simmons.

As you may recall, Odessa Police were called out to the 4900 block of East 42nd Street on February first in reference to shots being fired.

When officers arrived on the scene, they made contact with a 30-year-old licensed security guard, who advised he was trying to break up a fight between multiple people when an unknown male subject interfered.

The subject, later identified as Simmons, told the security guard to leave the subjects alone and stated, "I got something for you and I'll kill you" to the security guard.

That's when Simmons pulled a gun out of his vehicle and fired one shot at the security guard.

Officials say the security guard wasn't injured in the shooting and through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify Simmons as the shooter.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Jeffery Simmons, contact Odessa Police at (432) 333-3641 or Odessa Crimestoppers at (432) 333-TIPS.
