Correctional Officer Injured in Bus Crash Recovering at Home

The correctional officer injured in the prison bus crash has been released from the hospital.

Officer Jason Self was released from an Abilene rehab facility on Thursday and is now at home.

Self was airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock after the crash.

He then went to Abilene when he had recovered enough to be moved.

The prison bus crash happened back in January.

A correctional bus carrying 12 prisoners and three officers went off an overpass in Penwell and hit a passing train.

Eight inmates and two officers were killed in the crash.
