ODESSA - One man is behind bars on several charges following a weekend incident.
Odessa Police were called out to the 1100 block of Clifford early Sunday morning in reference to a suspicious vehicle.
When officers arrived on the scene, they saw a maroon Mazda Tribute which matched the description of the suspicious vehicle.
As the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the back passenger immediately got out of the vehicle and threw a small bag of marijuana back into the window of the car.
While attempting to put the passenger into handcuffs, he twisted away from officers and ran west on Clifford Street.
The man, 22-year-old Richard Barriga, was later caught and taken into custody.
Officers say as they were searching Barriga, they found nine bags of cocaine, which were consistent with delivery. They also found marijuana and a digital scale which Barriga tried to hide from the officers.
Barriga is facing charges of distribute/delivery of cocaine, tampering with physical evidence, evading and possession of marijuana.
