ODESSA – One man is behind bars following an evening stabbing in Odessa.
Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9 they were called out to the 1300 block of East 6th Street in reference to a disturbance.
According to the report, as officers were responding to the scene, dispatch advised that the call was upgraded to a stabbing and the suspect was a Hispanic male, approximately 60 years old and wearing black pants.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 52-year-old male with multiple stab wounds.
The man was taken to Medical Center Hospital with serious bodily injury.
Officers later found a person in the area of 7th Street and Allred who matched the description of the suspect.
The suspect was identified as 57-year-old Victor Avila.
We're told that Avila was found with a knife that had blood on it and that Avila's shoes also had blood on them.
