Odessa Police Department Press Release
30-year-old James Lonnie Render III
Odessa Police arrested Render on 1-29-15 at approximately 1705 hours for Fail to Comply with Registration Requirements. While conducting an unrelated investigation, OPD detectives discovered a Facebook page that possibly belonged to a sex offender. OPD detectives believed the person using the Facebook page was James Lonnie Render.
OPD detectives discovered photographs on the Facebook page and identified the person in the profile as James Lonnie Render III DOB 8-13-84. On 1-5-15, OPD detectives interviewed Render, who admitted that he had been using a Facebook page with his photograph under a false name.
The Texas Code of Criminal Procedures requires a registered offender to report a change in online identifiers within 7 days of the status change. Investigation revealed that Render had been posting statements on a Facebook page under a false name. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, a warrant was issued for Render.
21-year-old Adam Leos
Odessa Police arrested Leos on 1-30-15 at approximately 0333 hours for Possession of Cocaine “State Jail Felony” and Possession of Marijuana “Class B Misdemeanor”. While patrolling the 3600 block of North Dixie, officers observed a suspicious vehicle parked and blacked out in the front of a closed business.
Officers made contact with the sole occupant of a white 1999 Volvo S70, identified as Leos, who appeared to be very nervous. Leos stated that he had weed and handed officers a jar containing marijuana. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered cocaine inside the center console. Leos was charged and arrested accordingly.
18-year-old Nathan Garza and 17-year-old Diamond Pineda
Odessa Police arrested Garza on 1-27-15 at approximately 0153 hours for Possession of Cocaine “State Jail Felony” and Possession of Marijuana “Class B Misdemeanor”. Odessa Police also arrested Pineda for Tampering with Physical Evidence “3rd Degree Felony”, Possession of Cocaine “State Jail Felony”, and two misdemeanor warrants.
Officers observed a gold Suzuki Forenza traveling westbound in the 600 block of Pearl with no front license plate and expired registration. A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the driver was identified as Garza and the back right passenger as Pineda. Officers could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the listed vehicle.
Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered a bag of marijuana underneath the driver's seat and cocaine inside the center console. In the pocket located behind the front passenger seat, officers located more cocaine concealed inside of a Whataburger cup. Both subjects were charged and arrested accordingly.
25-year-old Joe Porras
Odessa Police arrested Porras on 1-27-15 at approximately 2204 hours for Possession of Cocaine “State Jail Felony” and for 7 outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Officers observed a red 2007 Ford Mustang in the area of 42nd Street and Grandview with expired registration.
A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the driver was identified as Porras. A warrant check revealed Porras had 7 outstanding warrants out for his arrest. Officers searched the listed vehicle and discovered a bag of cocaine along with a folded dollar bill containing cocaine near the driver's seat. Porras was charged and arrested accordingly.
