MIDLAND – We're learning new information about a Midland murder that happened on Tuesday morning.

As NewsWest 9 reported on Tuesday, police were called out to America's Best Value Inn in the 3600 block of Bankhead Highway in reference to a possible homicide.

According to the report, when police arrived on the scene they found 36-year-old Dedrick Lewis dead with stab wounds.

The report stated that as police were searching the area, they found another motel door with blood on it and that's when they made contact with 43-year-old Edward Briceno.

Police say Briceno had blood stains on his knee, shoes and other parts of his body and police believed that the blood wasn't his.

Additionally, a motel video showed Briceno talking to Lewis near the murder scene and that no one else was in the video.

Officials say once Briceno arrived at the police department, he didn't want to talk without an attorney and a priest.

Officials later found a knife wrapped in a towel and Briceno's bloody clothing in the truck of his vehicle as well as his wife's vehicle.

Statements were taken from Briceno's family members and they said they heard a black male screaming early in the morning and then shortly after, Briceno came back in the room and stated, "I f***** somebody up."

Briceno is currently behind bars on murder charges.
