MIDLAND - A Midland man got into trouble with the law after he pointed a gun at a family member during an argument.
When deputies arrived at a home in the 500 block of North Lamesa Road on Sunday, witnesses alerted them that 43-year-old Lorenzo Ortiz, Junior, was trying to take off in a truck.
Authorities caught up with him and noticed that he smelled like alcohol.
He said that witnesses had taken a gun from him and that he didn't know what had happened during the altercation.
Deputies also found a 40-caliber magazine in his truck.
The victim told authorities that they had been feuding when Ortiz pulled a handgun on him.
He threatened the victim then took off.
When he went back, there was a scuffle and the gun fell to the ground.
Ortiz was arrested on felony charges of assault with a weapon - family violence.
