MIDLAND - A former Denver City Councilman has been sentenced for his involvement in a drug ring.
Joe Anthony Kay was sentenced to five years in federal prison on Friday after pleading guilty back in September.
The report states that Kay, along with Michael Lozano and five others, would deliver methamphetamine, heroin, marijuana and cocaine from Denver City to Midland then to El Paso from June of 2010 through April 2014.
They were caught in July but Kay resigned from the City Council before then.
All the other defendants in the drug trafficking scheme have been convicted and sentenced for their roles.
After Kay completes his prison term, he will be placed under supervised release for five years.
