GAINES COUNTY - One woman will spend the rest of her life behind bars after being found guilty of capital murder.
After five hours of deliberations, Desirae Mata was found guilty on Thursday of two counts of capital murder in connection with the May 2010 deaths of Jon Allen and Jay Doyal.
As NewsWest 9 has reported, the two men were found dead from gunshot wounds in a home in Gaines County.
Mata went on the run and was later caught in Alabama.
District Attorney, Michael Munk, tells NewsWest 9, “My sympathies to the families whose loved ones were taken from them at such an early age. I hope the jury's verdict provides some comfort to them in their time of grief. My thanks to the jury for deliberating long and hard on their decision. I also have a message for those that would come to Gaines County or any county of the 106th District of Texas to rob, murder, and plunder: you will be caught, you will be tried and you will be judged by our juries."
Three other men have also been arrested in connection to this case but they haven't been tried in court yet.
