PRESIDIO PORT OF ENTRY - A man on the run for a murder 21 years ago in California was caught at the Presidio Port of Entry on Monday.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers in Presidio arrested 53-year-old Jose Angel Barraza Gomez after he arrived at the port of entry from Mexico to obtain paperwork to renew his expired resident alien card.
Officials say they noticed that the card that Gomez had expired 14 years earlier and initiated an inspection.
Gomez was later fingerprinted and that's when they learned Gomez was wanted in connection with a shooting that happened back in El Monte, California, in 1993.
Gomez is currently behind bars at the Presidio County Jail awaiting extradition.
