GAINES COUNTY – Two people are dead and five others were injured in a morning accident in Gaines County.
The accident happened on Friday morning just after 7:30 a.m. on Highway 385, one mile north of the Andrews County line.
DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, a 2003 GMC Yukon SUV was traveling northbound on Highway 385 and was driving too fast for the existing road conditions. The vehicle hit some black ice and the driver lost control of the vehicle causing the vehicle to roll an unknown number of times.
According to the report, the driver, 38-year-old Silvia Balderas, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead. Another child, two month old Nicholas Balderas, was taken to Seminole Memorial Hospital where he later died.
Five children who were also in the vehicle, were all taken to Seminole Memorial Hospital. One child, 10-year-old Rosalyn Balderas, was then taken to University Medical Center.
