MIDLAND: Some tense moments at Chase Bank in Midland Tuesday afternoon. A gunman walked in and demanded money, and the suspect is still on the run.
"I just heard some commotion I was in the back and I turned around and the guy was leaving," Mason Dean, a witness inside the bank, said.
That commotion was a armed robber inside the bank.
"The caller said that the armed suspect walked into the building to the counter, produced a hang gun and demanded money," Sara Bustilloz, Communications Officer with MPD, said
After the criminal got the cash he ran to Toys R Us, across the street from the bank. Employees told NewsWest 9 that the robber came inside the store and was pacing around talking to himself and then he left. Another witness said a short time later police came inside the store with guns drawn and everyone had to leave.
"We believe that suspect is still at large. We have the assistance of FBI, DPS with our helicopter, our K9 Units our Crime Scene Investigation Unit to try and put all the pieces together and try to figure out who this was," Bustilloz said.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, 5'8", thin build, last scene wearing an orange bandanna around his face, blue jeans and dark shoes.
"We've already taken a look at surveillance footage. We're processing for fingerprints any other clues that we can find as to who this person was, where he was going from here and so we're just trying to get our investigation underway," Bustilloz said.
