Man Arrested on Several Charges in Odessa

ODESSA – One man is behind bars on several charges after an incident last week in Odessa.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9 they were called out to the 9100 block of Andrews Highway in reference to a disturbance.

As officers were responding, dispatch reported that the actor, later identified as 25-year-old Arturo Jose Hipolito, Jr., was leaving the scene in a small blue two door truck.

Officers later found the truck matching the description of the suspect vehicle which was stuck on the east service road spinning its tired.

Police later stopped the vehicle in the 7-11 parking lot.

Someone at the 7-11 told police that Hipolito caused a disturbance at the location previously.

When police spoke with Hipolito, officers could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and person. According to the report, Hipolito also had blood-shot eyes, unsteady balance and slurred speech.

Hipolito was taken into custody for public intoxication but the story didn't end there.

As Hipolito was taken into the jail, Hipolito became aggressive and kicked an Odessa Police officer in the back of the leg.

That's when Hipolito attempted to spit on the officer and bit the officer's hand. Hipolito then broke free of the officer's grip and attempted to bite the officer again before being sprayed with OC spray.

Hipolito has been charged with harassment of a public servant, resisting arrest and public intoxication.
