HOBBS, N.M. – One Hobbs man is behind bars on murder charges.
Hobbs Police tell NewsWest 9 that they arrested 19-year-old Mario Ortega on New Year's Eve on charges of murder and tampering with evidence.
Officials say the charges stem from the November 2014 murder of 16-year-old Jose Salcido that occurred in the 500 block of East Sanger in Hobbs.
We're told police determined Ortega was the person who shot Salcido through an exhaustive investigation.
Ortega is currently behind bars on a $150,000 bond.
